Party Giveaway Extravaganza: SodaStream - a smarter way to drink soda

 

I remember SodaStream as a kid back in England, my friends would have them at their birthday party and I would be so jealous as we weren't allowed soda at home.  I don't drink much soda right now because its expensive and has way too much salt and sugar.  Little did I know that SodaStream soda is actually a lot healthier and cheaper than regular soda and those Mum's back in England were actually on to something!

SodaStream kindly sent a Fountain Jet Soda maker for our review.  We also received a neat package of SodaStream's sodamixes.  We had a trial run and taste test before the birthday party.  I chose the diet grapefruit flavor to start with.  It was a pretty simple set up, I washed the reusable bottle, filled it to the line with filtered water.  I screwed in the CO2 carbonator and reusable filled bottle in place, 3 simple hits on the top button injected the bubbles into the filtered water and then I added the soda mix to taste. 

The kids loved the diet grapefruit flavored soda.  Then we moved swiftly onto the cranberry/raspberry flavor.  Although, the characteristic bombardment of bubbles that hits you when you first open a can of regular soda is not as strong in the sodastream soda, I found that after a few sips its actually refreshing to be able to actually taste the flavor in my soda.  You can add more or less bubbles to your SodaStream soda as you please.

My kids are not allowed regular soda for the same reason why I don't drink it, plus they are too young for all that sugar but I'm happy with the kids drinking SodaStream soda on occasions.  The SodaStream was a hit at my daughter's birthday party for both the adults and kids.   I was surprised how many of the parents had never heard of SodaStream.  You learn something new each day.
