Review/Giveaway: Hershey Moderation Nation Website

Moderation is hard for me these days - I have a desk job and I'm forever snacking.  There's always cake for anniversary's or candy around.  Does this sound familiar? well there's help for us - the Hershey Center for Health & Nutrition (HCHN), in collaboration with the American Dietetic Association, has created a new website and free iPhone app called Moderation Nation.

The website contains everything from recipes and expert tips in two features called "Moderation Lifestyle" and “Moderation Eating”.  I love that the moderation lifestyle works for all kinds of schedules and family lifestyle.  The moderation eating consist of a “balance the meal” tool that provides side dish suggestions to match and balance out your main dish, and helpful facts on topics like realistic portion sizes and keeping a food journal.

For those who are on the go the iPhone app rewards you for healthful activities and lets you track your progress.  This is a great website that helps you help yourself.

Thanks to Hershey and MyBlogSpark a Freebie Junkie reader will win a Moderation Nation prize pack containing a Moderation Nation t-shirt, Hershey’s chocolate and a nutrition journal to track your food and activities

I learned that no matter your body weight or how much you exercise, if you also spend a lot of time sitting, you are likely to have higher health risks than someone who performs the same amount of exercise but spends less time sitting....

That scares me. I sit a lot at work.

Interesting site you sent us to. First thing that caught my eye was this:

70% of consumers don’t do more to achieve a balanced diet because they don’t want to give up their favorite foods and need more practical tips to eat right.

I like the Moderation Lifestyle. I find it easy to eat in moderation but almost impossible to moderate our lifestyle.
