Breakfast Party with Nutella® hazelnut spread

Breakfast in our household during the week day consists of quick grab and go food.  Breakfast is the most important meal of our day especially since I have growing children and so I try to include nutritious items such as yogurt, cereal and jelly on toast to tie everyone over till snack time.  As a child back in England my Mom used to give us Nutella on toast.  I had completely forgotten about this breakfast item now that I am a Mom myself. 

I was excited to be chosen to host a MommyParties™ sponsored by Nutella® hazelnut spread and this past weekend I hosted a fun breakfast playdate with a group of friends and their children.

I served Nutella on whole grain toast for everyone and this was well received from the adults and especially the children.

Everyone loved their Nutella goodie bags which included a Nutella® tumbler mug, spread sample and coupon, spread spreader, spread tip cards and recipes.  There were two Mom's whose children are allergic to tree nuts but surprisingly hazelnut was not on their nut list so they were pleased that their children could try nutella and will use their coupon from the goodie bag.

As a parent I was wary about giving a chocolate spread to my children as they are allergic to sugar i.e. they bounce off all four walls given any kind of candy : ) but I was surprised to learn Nutella is comparable to other popular breakfast condiment such as jellies and syrup.  A proper balanced breakfast containing protein, fats and complex carbohydrates will keep you feeling full for longer than a simple carbohydrate rich breakfast, therefore Nutella on whole grain Toast with a glass of milk would provide a balanced and tasty breakfast.  Read more about Nutella and nutrition here.
