Nutrisystem 10-Day Challenge #NSNation - Breakfast


I lead a sedentary life at work, my job doesn't require me to move a lot, just plug away at my computer and so this sedentary behavior has lead me to get back into shape as my weight has slowly crept up these past few years.  Although I have two little ones who definetely keep me on my toes, my snacking habits throughout the day has also contributed to my weight gain.  I'm aware that a combination of diet and excercise will not only help me to be where I should be on the scales but also help me live a longer life. 

I've heard good things from friends who've been on Nutrisystem and so when I was accepted into the 10 day Nutrisystem Blogger program I was excited to start.  I received a fabulous box full of frozen food's from Nutrisystem.  If you are not home during the day like me its no problem to receive frozen food on your doorstep as the food is carefully packaged to sit out on the door step until you get home.  The premise of Nutrisystem is portion control and this is achieved by their food plan. 

I received frozen food items for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack time.  I will be posting my favorite food from each of these meals.  I'll start today's post with breakfast which is the most important meal of the day.

BREAKFAST


During the weekend, I typically eat a bowl of cereal with 2% milk, or low fat oatmeal and occasionally will splurge with a pastry or breakfast sandwich.  The weekend is my weakness as we often go out for breakfast or my husband will cook a mean breakfast.  So portion control is required especially at weekends.  The breakfast items I received in my pack included French Toast, Pancakes, omelets and breakfast burritos.  My favorite was the breakfast burrito which combines eggs with red and yellow peppers, along with beans, all in a flour tortilla.  It's pretty hearty that heats in just minutes in the microwave.  At only 210 calories and 4g of fat its a good healthy and yummy start to the day.  While I was worried that I'd be hungry mid morning on only 210 calories I realised its ok to have a snack mid morning to prevent cravings - again its all down to portion control.  There's no need to skimp on taste.
