Review: Come make a splash at Sesame Place

While the summer for us adults means work, hubby and I try to take as much time off to spend with the kids.  These often result in long weekends away or spending a day here or there at local attractions.  We are lucky to live near Philadelphia where there are some beautiful and fun places to visit.  One of them being Sesame Place in Langhorne, PA which is only 30 minutes away for our house.  We took a visit to Count's Halloween Spooktacular in the fall (read my review &here) and had so much fun that we wanted to return in the summer to enjoy the water park activities.

When we arrived my son remembered the awesome looking Vapor Trail ride which is a huge cool twisting turning roller coaster aimed at the little ones as young as 3 with an adult (or 7 without an adult).  My 6 year old son and husband went on it while my 4 year old daughter and I took a picture by Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Snuffalufagus.

We had to pry him away with the promise of other rides and the water park

We then headed straight to the Big Bird's Balloon Race

 Then onto Ernie's Bed Bounce

The doors open at 10am and considering we went the Friday before 4th of July, it wasn't too crazy busy that we had to wait too long in the lines.

We had met up with my brother in law and his 2 year old daughter and the under 5 year old playground was a fun place for everyone (including the big kids "aka" the Dads)

I love the fact that parents of small children can bring in a small cooler (see policy &here).  There is a picnic area outside of the park by the parking lot which is great for those who want to bring their own food.  After lunch we went over to the water park.  We were prepared and had already put our bathing suits on before entering the park.  This saved us having to use the public restrooms to change.  We brought a stroller to carry our towels and sundries and there were plenty of lounge chairs that my sister in law could hang out with our belongings while we hit the water area.

We spent most of our afternoon at &Count's Water Splash Castle, this was fun for my 6 year old who went down the large water slide and my 4 year old who went down the mini water slide.  My 4 year old had fun watching everyone getting drenched under the 1,000-gallon 8-ft. tipping bucket that went off periodically under Count's countdown.  There's over 90 play elements here and this accounts for the fact that we have no actual photos to show for our time here ; )

My son and husband managed to steal away to &Bert & Ernie's Slip & Slide and &Sky Splash.  Sesame Place definetely requires more than 1 day as I think we only covered 2 thirds of the park in that 1 day, purchasing the &2-day pass is a good choice to get the most out of your bucks.  We didn't see any shows, meet the characters, hit the lazy water rides or see any street parades so I think a second visit in order.  Oh and then don't forget the Count's Halloween Spooktacular in the fall.  Have you been?

Upcoming events
