SeaWorld Review

On our family vacation to Orlando, Florida last week, we had to head to SeaWorld Adventure Park of course!
We enjoy sharing fun experiences with our children and what better way to explore the creatures of the ocean than to head to SeaWorld.  SeaWorld has it all, Whales, dolphins, sharks, sealions, shows, character dining, rides etc..

We headed over on a Saturday as this was the only time our schedule would allow.  It was very busy from the beginning for the long queues to grab our tickets, to getting our bags checked and then navigating around through the crowds at the entrance.  I didn't realize but SeaWorld hosts a Halloween Spooktacular every weekend in October: 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, and 28-30 which runs from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Halloween Spooktacular involves trick-or-treat areas, opportunity to dance with whimsical sea creatures, silly and spooky shows and sea-themed arts and crafts.  The kids loved the trick or treat (treat bags are provided) and quickly erased the long wait at the start of our day.  We came home with 4 bags full of candy : )
Sea World is part of Busch Gardens which also own Sesame Place.  We've been to Sesame Place several times and so we skipped the Sesame Street's Countdown to Halloween Live Musical Stage Show as we've already seen this show.  However, this is a great feature as every child can recognize a Sesame character.

When we first arrived we headed straight for the Dolphin feeding session at Dophin Cove.  We enjoyed feeding the fun-loving dolphins.  For only $7 per person we were able to enter Dolphin Cove with a group of other guests and feed the dolphins. Check your park map for feeding times.  There are handy photographers who take wonderful pictures at this event, we purchased the picture of my son feeding a dolphin at the booth for $19.99 (6X8 size).  This is a must do activity for everyone!

Our next stop was to go see Shamu at the One Ocean Show.  Again refer to your brochure for actual show times.  I recommend getting there 20-30 minutes early to get a good seat - it fills up quickly.  We didn't bring any change of clothes for the adults so we declined to sit in the soak areas (down below) - although it did look so much fun and my son kept looking over in envy.  The show was amazing, its a wonder how these whales can perform so beautifully.  Again a must do activity!

We headed over to the Clyde & Seamore Take Pirate Island Show (sealions) after lunch and this was a hilarious comedy act between a sailor and pirate and their sealion friends Clyde & Seamore, plus throw in an otter and Walrus to boot for extra wow factor.  Again get to the show early for good seating.

The only ride we went on is the Wild Arctic helicopter ride and tour.  This entailed a flight simulator tour across the arctic.  It was more funny than a wild ride but nevertheless entertaining for all.  At the end of the ride we saw beluga whales (so serene and beautiful) and polar bears.  There were several other rollercoaster rides for adults but we did not venture over as we had two little ones with us.

Other activities we managed to fit into our day was the shark encounter, sting ray lagoon and the kids play area.  There are definetely more activities than can be fit into one day.  Tickets are expensive so I suggest going online here and map out your day to get the most for your family needs as it can be overwhelming.

DEAL ALERT
If you plan on going to SeaWorld before 10/31 consider buying ahead of time here as there are options for kids at half price with a paying adult ticket or even free or your 2nd visit is free.  This is an awesome deal considering how much a day visit would cost for a family of 4.

Disclosure: We were provided complimentary and discount tickets from Sea World but this did not influence my review, all opinions expressed are of my own (others may differ).
