Lakeshore Learning Materials Review and Giveaway: Great Gifts for the Kids

Now the nights are dark and cold we have switched from outdoor activities to indoor activities before bed.  Its all too easy to turn the TV on and veg out but with two impressionable kiddos at home we're making a concerted effort to turn to old fashioned board games for our family entertainment.  As a kid I had only a fraction of the toys my children have today.  Many were board games which engaged us for a lot longer than the toys of today.

Lakeshore Learning stores offer fun toys and art materials that engage young minds.  Lakeshore started with one person taking a chance. In this case, it was Ethelyn Kaplan, an Omaha homemaker who decided to pack up her family and move to California to open a toy store back in 1954.  Initially, Mrs. Kaplan focused on selling toys to parents, but before long, local schools started calling her for art materials and other classroom supplies. Mrs. Kaplan listened to her customers. Sensing an untapped market, she sold the store and started Lakeshore Learning Materials.

Browsing through the Holiday gift section there are so many fun and educational toys to choose from.  We love the Don't Let the Bugs Fall Game.  I'm not sure how it happened, but my 4 and 6 year olds were able to complete the game with Mommy losing both times.

This magnetic dart game is super-easy and super-safe for my kids to play! Six plastic darts have magnetic tips that easily stick right to the board - we had a good time laughing at darts that missed the board completely.  After a few tries we were able to rack some points up.

Watching TV is not an everyday occurence now as I much prefer to hear the laughter from my children or the excitement when they win a game.  Visit a Lakeshore Learning Store this Holiday Season.
