PMD Personal MicroDerm System Review

I'm Chinese so I'm blessed with young looking skin naturally and have always look younger than my age.  However, living the western life of beach time in the summer and cold winters has accelerated the aging process unnaturally.  With time I've noticed blemishes on my face and I do use a moisturizer with SPF and foundation with SPF for preventative maintenance.   I've never had a professional skin consultation but there are many out there.  One such procedure is a microdermabrasion.

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is an effective, non-surgical way to get rid of acne scars, fine wrinkles and sunspots by exfoliating the top layers of the skin. No chemicals or laser beams are used, only aluminum oxide micro crystals that gently sandblast your skin, leaving it smooth and fresh. Microdermabrasion also stimulates collagen production, helping your skin rejuvenate faster than normal. Also called the lunchtime peel, microderm abrasion takes up to one hour and has no downtime.

How much does it cost?
A professional microdermbrasion treatment costs, on average, $75 to $200, depending on where it is performed and the area treated. For best results, more than one microderm abrasion session is needed. There are also the so-called hidden costs (use special gel and cream that are needed before and after the treatment).  Well that really is out of my budget.

SkinCareRx offers an at home microdermabrasion system at a more affordable low price of $179.  The system includes 1 personal microderm, 5 exfoliating discs (2 green and 3 blue), 1 electric cord (Standard U.S. Outlet), 1 facial cap, 1 body cap, 1 reusable filter, Instructional CD and Pamphlet.  I was given the opportunity to try the product for myself.  I was hesitant as I do have sensitive skin, but was glad to see this kit comes complete with an 8 minute instructional CD and a booklet to help me become fully informed before using this products.  I also went online to the SkinCareRx site to read all the comments and was happy and reassured to see a review grade of 4 out of 5 for 94 reviews.

I decided to try this out on my hands first just to see how it felt.  I used the blue disc (for sensitive skin types) and it wasn't bad, I made sure to pull my skin tight and not hold over one spot and use continuous motion.  I then moved onto the blemishes on my face, after the first treatment my face was red (similar to sunburn) and I made sure not to apply any creams soon after.  The redness didn't last long and does get better with subsequent treatments as your skin gets used to it.  You can tell it works not only by smoother skin but from all the dead skin cell that you can see getting sucked up by the vaccum (gross but necessary).  For best results pairing the Personal Microdermabrasion Kit with additional product to promote healing and balance PH such as toner and a cell renewel serum is recommended.

I like how this product is not only to be used on the face, you can use it on your elbow, hands, feet or wherever you have dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles so you can get more bang for your bucks.  If you plan on trying the Personal Microdermabrasion Kit just ensure you watch the video and read the literature carefully and consult a physician if in doubt.
