Walgreens-Express Scripts Dispute

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

We all love our drug stores because its a one stop shop for our prescriptions and beauty products and now even groceries.  With the drug store benefits there's often many a times where you can get free products after rebate, store sale and stacking of coupons.  Saving on our prescriptions is also a necessity these days.  Many save money on their prescriptions by joining prescription saving clubs such as Express Scripts.  Express Scripts serves as the middlemen between the health care service and employers and health plans who pay for the medications to negotiate a low out of pocket price for the consumer through home delivery and at retail pharmacies.

Many patients under an Express Scripts plan have used Walgreens pharmacies for years and have a personal relationship with their Walgreens pharmacist. However, negotiations to renew Walgreens and Express Script three-year contract which expired at the end of 2011 failed.  As a result, Walgreens is no longer part of Express Script's pharmacy provider network as of January 1, 2012 in all Walgreens pharmacies nationwide and Duane Reade in the New York city area.
I'm sure this dispute has affected a lot of savvy Walgreens customers who don't deserve the hassle in moving their prescriptions to another pharmacy.  Their prices do not go down from the drug store move either.  In an effort to help ease the burden Walgreens is offering a special discount on annual membership for their Walgreens Prescription Savings Club. An individual can join during a special January promotion for ONLY $5 or $10 for the family membership and receive significant savings on more than 8,000 brand name and all generic medicine. This is a saving of $15 on an individual and $25 on a family membership!  Other member benefits include discounts on flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizers and diabetic supplies.  Plus bonuses when you purchase Walgreens brand products and photofinishing services.

That kind of saving is worth looking into! Support your local Walgreens and follow:
